The Class 380 is a three or four-car electrical-multiple unit in use with ScotRail across the Scottish railway network in and around Glasgow. They are part of the Desiro family.
History[]
A total of 38 sets were ordered, comprising 22 three-car and 16 four-car units. Stations along the Ayrshire Coast Line and Inverclyde Line will undergo platform extension to allow the use of the longer trains. The trains were specified to have full access for the disabled and to have streamlined end corridor connections. The fleet are based at Shields Electric Traction Depot. On the unveiling of the first completed vehicle, it was announced that the fleet would be divided into two sub-groups, with the 3-car units classified as Class 380/0 and the 4-car units as Class 380/1.
One of the most distinctive features of the Class 380 is its dramatic front end style designed to conform to the latest safety standards. This gives the unit a swept back look like an express train. The ScotRail Class 380 fleet is based at Glasgow Shields Road Train Maintenance Depot.
Train Simulator[]
For Train Simulator, Thomson Interactive (then TotalizeMedia) developed the Class 380. The 380 model features animated gangway corridor connections and these automatically close up on coupling sets together. Uniquely, the model also features scrolling destination blinds. There is no passenger view or extra features such as operable windows, as this reflects the original route's intention as driver training.
The ScotRail Class 380 pack doesn't include any scenarios, and as the Glasgow Airport Rail Link includes both the 380, the route, and scenarions it is recommended players purchase that.
